REFLECTION

REFLECTION

The architecture which I have chosen is an addition to the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Canada which designed by an American architect Daniel Libeskind. He has many excellent works and the ROM is one of the most famous one. The appearance of ROM is very attractive. It integrates a lot of exaggerated elements into it. Freedom is the first feeling occurred us when we see it. So I chose it because I love the feeling of free.

First of all, I have created a creature creator according to the architecture’s special appearance. Looking from each side of the building, it is similar with a pair of wings, and the whole building looks like a flying bird. So I have created a pink bird as my monster. Then according to my first week’s folding, I have created the environment. Because the folding has three uplift places, so I create three mountains and between the mountains there are three ways which can lead to monster’s home. Next I have designed the monster’s house. It is a huge nest and the shape is similar with the monster’s shape so that the monster can have a more comfortable life in its room. Finally I combine the house with the monster. The house is located at the top of mountain. The monster can go home through the three different ways. In the day time, monster can rest at the top plane of the nest. It is monster’s balcony. While at night, monster would fly into the nest through the hole at the centre of the nest into its bedroom and living room. Because the bottom of the nest is connect with the hot spring, so the monster can have a bath before sleeping.

During doing this project, I have learned and practiced many difficult software such as using buildAR to make 3D view, using Sketch up to build model, using sandbox to make environment and using 3D max to render. And through this project, it enriches my imagination and let me have a better understanding about how building and the environment work together.

Because of the designer's photografic layout use biger image combine with a smaller one.  Thus, I'm try to use a clear easy seperat line leyout showing a big area for image and small area for explain. Its repressent image be the main point.
